TEDxOpenUniversity: what to expect

1984 was a memorable year. Margaret Thatcher won a landslide victory and became the UK’s first female Prime Minister; the first Apple Macintosh computer went on sale, and two astronauts – Bruce McCandless II and Robert L. Stewart – made planetary strides as they performed NASA’s first untethered spacewalk.

As these historic moments unfolded, something else was taking shape that would later become a viral video phenomenon: the birth of TED. Devoted to spreading ideas in the form of bite-sized videos, the platform unites communities across the globe on topical issues concerning the world today and tomorrow.

Since it’s birth, the non-profit has transformed the face of education by bringing people together to inspire lateral thinking – something we’re incredibly passionate about. That’s why, this November, we will be hosting its first-ever TEDxOpenUniversity.

We’ll be summoning influential leaders, academics and industry professionals to deliver inspiring talks on the subject of ‘what’s next’ for future generations. The talks will span a variety of specialisms including Artificial Intelligence, Mental Health, Language and much, much more.

Here are 5 reasons why you won’t want to miss out!
